This apparatus is suitable for testing the thermal insulation properties of flame retardant protective clothing fabrics exposed to radiant and convective heat sources.
Test method
A heat source is placed on one side of the sample being tested and a copper calorimeter is placed on the other side. To start the test, the sample clip is pushed and pulled into place and when the value of the sensor reaches the human secondary burn tolerance limit (sensor temperature rises 35°C to 40°C), the sample clip is removed from above the heat source. From the point where the response curve and the human tissue tolerance curve intersect, the time leading to second degree burns is read out to an accuracy of 0.1
